Philosophy is the systematic study of general and fundamental questions concerning topics like existence, knowledge, mind, reason, language, and value. Historically, many of the individual sciences, such as physics and psychology, formed part of philosophy, but are now considered separate academic disciplines. Philosophy has many subfields, including ontology, metaphysics, epistemology, and moral philosophy. Philosophy is studied and debated by scholars like Martha Nussbaum and Slavoj Žižek.
