Grandmaster Flash developed an interest in music at an early age and began experimenting with DJing and turntable techniques in his teenage years. He attended Samuel Gompers High School in the Bronx, New York. Grandmaster Flash has received honorary doctorates from Buffalo State University and Lehman College. He has performed at numerous festivals and concerts, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Glastonbury Festival. Grandmaster Flash has collaborated with numerous artists, including James Brown and George Clinton. He has been recognized for his contributions to music education and has worked with various organizations to promote the development of hip-hop and electronic music.
