Martin Luther King Jr was a prominent leader of the civil rights movement. He attended Morehouse College, Crozer Theological Seminary, and Boston University, where he earned his doctoral degree in systematic theology. King's education was heavily influenced by Henry David Thoreau and Mahatma Gandhi. He led the Montgomery bus boycott in the mid-1950s and was the first president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). King worked closely with other prominent civil rights leaders, such as Rosa Parks and Malcolm X.
